CSV (Comma-Separated Values) is the oldest and most universally supported tabular data format, with roots in IBM Fortran list-directed I/O from 1972 and formal documentation in IETF RFC 4180 published in October 2005. Every spreadsheet program, database, analytics tool, and BI platform reads CSV, making it the lowest-common-denominator format for moving structured data, including latitude and longitude columns, between systems.

NotionToMaps exposes a live CSV URL with separate latitude and longitude columns, ready for Google Sheets' IMPORTDATA, Excel's Power Query, pandas, R, Tableau, or any geocoder. Connect once and the tool pulls fresh rows from Notion on every refresh. When you need data you can sort, filter, and pivot, CSV remains the format nothing refuses to open.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What columns are included in the CSV export?

The CSV includes: name, description, address, latitude, longitude, plus all other properties from your Notion database. Coordinates are in separate columns for easy use.

How is the CSV different from Notion's built-in export?

Notion's export doesn't separate coordinates - the Place property exports as a single text field. NotionToMaps extracts latitude and longitude into dedicated columns, ready for mapping or analysis.

What encoding does the CSV use?

UTF-8 encoding with BOM for maximum compatibility. This ensures special characters and international text display correctly in Excel and other applications.

Can I import the CSV into Google Maps?

Yes! In Google My Maps: Create new map → Import → select CSV → choose latitude/longitude columns. Your places will appear on the map.

How are multi-select and relation properties handled?

Multi-select values are joined with semicolons. Relations show the linked page titles. All property types are converted to appropriate text representations.

Is there a row limit for CSV exports?

No limit from NotionToMaps. Export your entire database regardless of size. Very large exports (10,000+ rows) may take a few seconds to generate.

Will the CSV reflect changes I make in Notion?

Yes. The CSV URL is a live endpoint, not a static file. Google Sheets (IMPORTDATA), Excel Power Query, and any script that fetches the URL will see the latest Notion data on every refresh. Cache TTL is 15 minutes.
