GPX Export

Export Notion to GPX

Convert your Notion places to GPX for GPS devices, fitness apps, and outdoor navigation

Free • No credit card required • Updated

GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is an open XML schema released by TopoGrafix on March 1, 2002 for exchanging waypoints, routes, and tracks between GPS devices and applications. It carries no licensing fees, runs on UTC timestamps and WGS 84 coordinates, and has become the de facto standard for hiking, cycling, geocaching, and outdoor activity data across Garmin, Strava, Komoot, AllTrails, and hundreds of other tools.

NotionToMaps exposes a live GPX URL — one stable endpoint per map — that streams the Place properties in your Notion database as clean waypoints. Subscribe to it in Garmin BaseCamp, import it into Komoot for route planning, or share the link with anyone running GPX-aware software. Edit Notion and the next fetch serves the updated waypoints.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What GPS devices support GPX files?

Virtually all GPS devices support GPX: Garmin (watches, handhelds, bike computers), Wahoo, Polar, Suunto, Coros, and more. Most smartphone GPS apps also import GPX files.

Are the places exported as waypoints or tracks?

NotionToMaps exports your places as GPX waypoints (<wpt> elements). Each Notion row becomes a waypoint with name, description, and coordinates. We do not generate tracks or routes.

How do I get GPX files onto my Garmin device?

Option 1: Upload to Garmin Connect web, then sync to device. Option 2: Connect device via USB, copy .gpx file to the GPX folder. Option 3: Use Garmin BaseCamp to transfer waypoints.

Can I include elevation data in the GPX export?

Notion's Place property doesn't include elevation. The GPX export includes lat/lon coordinates. For elevation, import into an app like Gaia GPS which can add elevation data automatically.

Is there a waypoint limit for GPX exports?

NotionToMaps has no limit. However, some GPS devices have waypoint limits (e.g., older Garmin units may limit to 1000-2000 waypoints). Check your device specifications.

Will my Notion property data appear on my GPS device?

The place name becomes the waypoint name, and other properties are combined into the description field. Display varies by device - most show name prominently with description accessible via details.

Can I export to GPX and then create a route?

Yes! Export waypoints from NotionToMaps, then use apps like Garmin BaseCamp, Komoot, or Ride with GPS to connect waypoints into a route or course.
